This class is for those who have no experience and are starting right from the beginning. This fun class teaches all the basics of flamenco dance while learning a lively dance called ‘Rumba Flamenca”. Students can wear any workout style clothes with leather –soled shoes with a bit of a heel. Check out the music by Roger Scannura that will help you get acquainted with Rumba Flamenca! This is a hybrid class so there will be students dancing both in the studio and on Zoom at the same time.

If you are a beginner dancer with absolutely no experience, this is the perfect course for you. We have a special 7-week Intro to Flamenco Course starting Wednesdays from 6:45-7:45pm September 14 – October 26 for a registration of $135 (includes taxes). We also have an Introduction to Castanets on Tuesdays from 6 – 6:50pm starting Sept 13. All of our classes are taught by the Artistic Director Valerie Scannura and are accompanied by the live flamenco guitar of Roger Scannura. The fees include live musical accompaniment! Our school is located in the Stockyards/ Junction area of Toronto at 201-100 Symes Rd and has free parking. Advance registration is necessary to secure your spot for in-person classes. There is also the option to attend virtually and the price is the same. Summer classes are fun and designed to keep you moving in a drill format. We will focus on arm and handwork as well as footwork and palmas with an emphasis on moving quickly from one exercise to another. Levels are more general for these workshops but I can recommend which one you should take by emailing vscannura@gmail.com
For those with a minimum of 4-5 yrs and have an understanding of complicated footwork and various compases like Bulerias, Alegrias, and Solea por Bulerias.
This class is for absolute Beginners with no experience and the Rumba Flamenca will be introduced. Students can wear any workout clothes and shoes with a bit of heel that fit securely on the foot. Flamenco shoes are not required but before buying flamenco shoes, check with Valerie to make sure they are the proper shoes to get. There are many brands that are not suitable. We can advise the best thing to wear for this initiation class.
This class is for those who already took Intro to Flamenco Levels in 2022 or have some dance training but still need to brush up on the basics. We will be working on the compass for Tangos Flamenco.

Ritmo Flamenco is located at 100 Symes Road, suite 201 near Keele and St. Clair in Toronto, Canada, the Symes Art Collective Studios are an interesting collective of artists studios and breweries. Our studio is nestled in a renovated industrial building and boasts huge windows, 1,200 ft of space and high ceilings. The studio is 5 minutes from the Stockyards Mall and the historic Junction District of Toronto with free parking as well as easy access via TTC through the Symes Rd path that takes you directly to our building and is walking distance from the Gunns Loop (St. Clair and Keele). We are also walking distance the Stockyards Mall at Keele and St. Clair.

Coming from the North (401), heading down Weston Rd you make a right on Gunns Rd followed right on Glen Scarlett Rd. Symes Rd is about 500 meters down the road on your left at the Y.
Coming from the South, heading North on Keele, pass St Clair and turn left on Gunns Rd, followed by a right on Glen Scarlett Rd. Symes Rd is about 500 meters down the road on your left at the Y. (Do not use Symes Rd from St Clair, it is not a through street!)
Coming from TTC, take the St Clair Street car to Gunns Rd Loop and follow the streets above to the MV, OR take the NORTH – High Park now has the Stockyards bus that can let you off at Symes Rd and you must continue to walk north to the wall and enter the parking lot.
Parking, Use the driveway on the left side of the building to enter the rear parking lot.
We celebrated the end of our fall/winter and spring term of flamenco dance with a performance featuring over 40 students and professionals from Ritmo Flamenco at our new performance venue on 100 Symes Rd. It was attended by friends and family (100 people) in our spacious new table/studio space. Some of our students have been studying flamenco for over 10 years and others just started this past year and a few jumped into the performance after signing up in April!!! Can’t wait to see you all again soon. The fall schedule is being worked on but this summer will be spent mostly touring and performing in Toronto and various cities in Ontario.
