This class is for those who have no experience and are starting right from the beginning.  This fun class teaches all the basics of flamenco dance while learning a lively dance called ‘Rumba Flamenca”.  Students can wear any workout style clothes with leather –soled shoes with a bit of a heel.  Check out the music by Roger Scannura that will help you get acquainted with Rumba Flamenco! COVID-19 POLICY AND PROTOCOLS FOR IN STUDIO CLASSES

SELF SCREENING AND WAIVER

We will require all students to sign a waiver upon entering the studio that will consist of questions pertaining your health. Due to the current environment, no person will be allowed in the studio if they are exhibiting or feeling any sort of illness symptoms. You will be responsible for self-screening at home before coming to the studio.  If you are feeling sick or unwell the dancer must stay home for the health and safety of our studio community and for the safety of myself and Roger.  

MANDATORY MASK WEARING AND PERSONAL BELONGINGS

 It will be mandatory to wear masks in all common areas as well as in the studio. There will be sanitizing stations at the entrance to the studio and some inside the studio.  There are no official change rooms but students should try to come dressed or you can quickly change in the available washroom.  You can wait in the outside hallway on chairs and benches as long as you still distance yourself from each other.  You can bring your belongings into the studio space when your class is ready to begin.  

REDUCED CLASS SIZE AND ONLINE LEARNING OPTION

Class size will be limited.    There will also be the option to attend classes online.  The rates are different for in-person classes and virtual classes that are pre-registered as such.   If you register for in-person classes and cannot attend there will be the option to attend virtually but the rate per class will not change in this instance.  There is no class size limit for virtual classes.

FLOOR MARKERS TO ENSURE PHYSICAL DISTANCING

There will be marked areas for each student to dance in.  Studios, hallways and washrooms will be cleaned daily.

REGISTRATION

By registering with Ritmo Flamenco you have acknowledged that you understand and fully accept the studio policies as outlined in this document and on our website. 

MANDATED STUDIO CLOSURE

In the event that the studio is mandated to shut down by the Government, all regularly scheduled classes will continue to take place through online Zoom classes until we are allowed to open again. There will be no refunds.  

CLASS SCHEDULING

We are scheduling a 5 minute buffer in between all classes to allow students to safely enter and exit the studio premises.  

FOOD AND DRINK

No food will be permitted in the studio. Students are encouraged to bring full water bottles with them to class.  For sanitary reasons, the sink area in our kitchen will be off limits!

We are looking forward to seeing all of you again but I won’t be holding live classes until the fall as we are busy performing and teaching out of town. There also will be the opportunity to continue with online classes as well!

Summer classes at Ritmo Flamenco will focus on all areas of flamenco technique.  Each class will be a bit different to allow students to adapt to new exercises and movements from week to week.  There is no reason to worry about missing one or two classes due to holidays as single classes are also available.    We are still virtual for the time being so you must be able to have a space to dance and download Zoom onto the device you will be using.  VISIT THE SCHEDULE PAGE FOR DETAILS

INTRODUCTION TO FLAMENCO  : SPACE STILL AVAILABLE!

This popular class will focus on all aspects of flamenco dance in a fun way and will allow you to develop your knowledge and your sense of rhythm!   Stretch and strength is included as well as learning a fun dance called “Rumba Flamenca”.   Make sure you have space to dance and any workout clothes.  This class can be done in shoes or bare feet.  More info by emailing : vscannura@gmail.com
