This class is for new students with no dance experience or flamenco knowledge. We will guide you through all the techniques of flamenco dancing in a fun and informative manner. No dance experience required!

Summer workshops are a great time to enjoy flamenco by working on different areas of technique, stretch and strength, rhythm and compas. The levels are more general during the summer so feel free to email me if you are not sure what class you should take.

Join us for an immersive flamenco dance experience in our comprehensive workshop intensives, extended versions of our regular classes. Our spacious loft studios in the heart of Toronto’s historic Stockyards area provide the perfect setting for an unforgettable experience. Our classes are accompanied by the live flamenco guitar of renowned musician Roger Scannura and the class is led by Artistic Director Valerie Scannura with over 30 years of teaching and performing experience.

No family lives the flamenco tradition more fully than the Scannuras. They are Canada’s preeminent flamenco family, pursuing their art form with authenticity and excellence. Since 1995 they have enthralled audiences in dance and music festivals worldwide in venues across North America, Europe and the Middle East. Renowned flamenco guitarist and composer Roger Scannura has recorded over 11 CD’s of original flamenco music. Artistic Director Valerie Scannura has received acclaim for her numerous self-produced concerts while teaching at her Toronto based school as well as guest teaching at many professional dance schools throughout Ontario. Their performance company has received acclaim for their passion and originality, garnering rave reviews for their authentic brand of flamenco.
These workshop intensives are designed to give you a well- rounded “flamenco” workout focusing on all areas of flamenco: stretch and strength, footwork drills, arms, hands and palmas. This type of class will help build articulation in your feet and give you more overall endurance.
THE LEVELS ARE MORE GENERAL FOR WORKSHOPS. THERE WILL BE MIXED LEVELS IN EACH CLASS AND DRILLS WILL BE MODIFIED TO SUIT ALL ATTENDEES.

Spring is a great time to learn something new. This course is for absolute beginners or those with a bit of training that need to brush up on technique.
Classes are taught by Valerie Scannura who has years of experience teaching and performing. Live musical accompaniment by renowned flamenco guitarist Roger Scannura. All you need is a space to dance and you can wear shoes with a bit of heel that fit securely on the foot or bare feet or any comfortable footwear and workout clothes. Registration is $85 for 7 weeks. Saturdays on April 10,17,14 and May 1,8,15,29 (no class Easter Monday or Victoria Day)
